Sameer Rao is a distinguished Indian flautist who plays the Bansuri, the Indian bamboo flute. He began his musical journey in Hindustani classical music under the guidance of Pandit Veerabhadriah Hiremath in Mysore. His talent led him to become a disciple of the legendary flute maestro, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. From 2004 to 2010, Sameer was a resident student at the Vrindaban Gurukul in Mumbai, where he trained rigorously under Pandit Chaurasia, immersing himself in the intricacies of Indian classical music. After his training, Sameer managed the Gurukul in Bhubaneswar, Orissa, from 2010 to 2012, mentoring students and overseeing operations. An "A" graded artist by All India Radio, Sameer has captivated audiences both in India and abroad through solo performances and Jugalbandis. His albums have gained international acclaim. Sameer has received numerous awards, including the "Yuva Pratibha" award and the "Surmani" title. He currently resides in Mysore, continuing his musical journey.
